1. Why SAFER® cylinders are an innovative product?

Our cylinders are innovative because we use special technologies ensuring optimum parameters of use. The cylinders are composed of two basic elements – the inside made of safe PET material (polyethylene terephthalate) and the outside structure composed of braids of carbon and aramid fibres. Thanks to this combination – which is not available in any other product on the market – we guarantee reliability and safety throughout the whole product lifetime.

2. Why are composite cylinders significantly lighter than steel cylinders?

Composite cylinders are much lighter than steel cylinders primarily because of the type of materials used. One of the main elements influencing the weight of a cylinder is the PET liner and the composite material, which is a very light and durable material. For this reason, it is used, for example, in Formula 1 cars. The composite material is used whenever we want to have the highest strength and durability with the lowest possible weight of materials.

3. What does the double carbon and aramid fibre braid mean?

The double carbon and aramid fibre braid means that our cylinder is a kind of an ultra-modern hybrid, in which we combined two technologies ensuring the highest durability and resistance. The use of carbon fibres alone does not ensure the expected resistance, that's why we use aramid fibres in our cylinders, which guarantee maximum resistance to mechanical stress.

4. What is PET liner? What does it mean that the cylinder maintains the maximum purity of stored gases?

PET liner is the name of the so-called container frame, which is responsible for maintaining the tightness and purity of stored gases. Its advantages are that it does not react with the stored gases and it is a neutral and non-corrosive material ensuring the purity of gas during the whole time the container is used.

5. How are SAFER® composite cylinders tested?

Our composite cylinders undergo a number of specialist tests before they are approved for retail sale or wholesale. Each produced batch is first filled up to a certain test pressure. For example, if our cylinder has to withstand 300 bar, during tests, it is filled up to 450 bar.
After the cylinders have passed initial tests, two randomly selected cylinders from the whole batch are further tested. One of them is filled 12 thousand times (between 20 and 450 bar). The other cylinder is tested for durability by filling it up to the maximum pressure it can withstand. For example, if a cylinder is designated for use under the pressure of 300 bar, the destructive pressure for SAFER® cylinders is around 1100 bar. This way, we make sure that the cylinders sold by us meet the highest quality and safety standards.

6. Is the cylinder completely safe?

The cylinder is completely safe, because it undergoes numerous tests. No batch in which a defective cylinder is found is released for sale, and the tests conducted on cylinders guarantee their completely safe use.

7. Do the cylinders get corroded?

The cylinders do not get corroded thanks to using PET material.

9. Is the cylinder resistant to temperature changes of the gas contained inside it?

The label of each cylinder specifies the temperature in which it can be used. Special attention must be paid to this information when filling and emptying the cylinder, when the highest temperature fluctuations occur.
